Six Questions with Miss Davis

Our Six Questions Series provides each of our ILS faculty members the opportunity to introduce themselves to our community. We hope you enjoy this feature as a chance to get to know your favorite teachers better, as well as learn more about the other talented and dedicated faculty serving our students and our families. Be sure to say hi as you see each of these teachers around campus!

Today's blog features Miss Carissa Davis, one of our excellent Upper School teachers. Enjoy!

First Week of School - Construction Update

We love having our students back on campus this week! It has been quiet on campus (well, aside from the construction), this summer so hearing all the singing, laughing, playing and learning happening around campus is a wonderful change.

Have you enjoyed seeing all the work that has happened around campus over the summer? It has been wonderful to talk to so many parents and students about the exciting changes happening for our school. In case you missed it, this week's Alexandria Times included a great article about our project.

Six Questions with Mrs. Stone

Happy First Day of School! We are so excited to welcome so many new and returning students, family and staff for what we are sure will be a wonderful and exciting year.

As the year begins, we will be introducing (or re-introducing) you to the dedicated and caring ILS faculty members who serve you and your students each and every day.  Through our Six Questions Series, each faculty member has a chance to share some of their own reflections on classical, Christian education and what they enjoy most about our ILS community. We hope you enjoy these features and that you will stop by and say hi to our teachers and staff in person.

Today's blog features Mrs. Ruth Stone, our ILS Manager of Operations and Director of Extended Care. Enjoy!

Six Questions with Pastor Esget

As we welcome our many new and returning families to another new school year, we wanted to introduce (or re-introduce in some cases) you to all of our talented and caring faculty members.  Through our Six Questions Series, our teachers and faculty members have a chance to share some of their own reflections on classical, Christian education and what they enjoy most about our ILS community.

Today, ILS Superintendent and Senior Pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Christopher Esget, shares his responses to our Six Questions.

Counting Down to Back-to-School!

Things have been getting extra busy on campus as our crews work on a variety of projects in preparation for students returning next week. Please look for signs around campus directing you to the office and various classrooms. We can't wait for all our school families to get to see first hand all the progress that has been made over the summer when you come for Supply Drop Off and Upper School Orientation on Thursday, September 1st!

Six Questions: Ms. Katherine Kramer, Assistant Headmaster

As we prepare to kick-off the new school year, we are introducing our new teachers to our ILS community, and giving our returning faculty a chance to re-introduce themselves through our Six Questions Series. We hope you enjoy this chance to get to know a bit more about all your favorite teachers and faculty.

Today, we're excited to share Ms. Kramer's responses to our Six Questions. Ms. Kramer has been a part of our ILS community for seven years, teaching in both our Lower and Upper Schools, serving as our Upper School Lead Teacher, and now joining the administration as our Assistant Headmaster. Ms. Kramer is looking forward to the new year, seeing all our returning students and families, and getting to know all of our new students and parents as well!

Work Continues: Week of August 15

So much activity has been happening on campus the past few weeks as our crews work to finish up demolition and the other necessary site work for our Building and Renovation Project. Work is happening around the undercroft where the kitchen and bathroom renovation (and addition) is happening, plus preparing the site for the new elevator shaft.

Demo work has continued in the school building to make way for our upgraded HVAC system, the addition of a new elevator, and brand new bathrooms! We are looking forward to starting to see the building phase start once the demo is complete.

We are so grateful for our teams from Rust|Orling Architecture, Chamberlain Construction, and the many subcontractors working on this project.

Stay tuned for updates and additional information as we get ready to welcome back teachers, students and families in just a few weeks!

Six Questions: Meet Miss Kirstin Reistad, 1st grade teacher

Please join us in welcoming Miss Kirstin Reistad to our Immanuel Lutheran School faculty this year as our new 1st grade teacher!

As we prepare to begin the 2016-2017 academic year, ILS is thrilled to have several excellent new teachers join our faculty. Each of these teachers are taking a moment to respond to our Six Questions Series to help our community get to know them a bit more before the start of the year, and they very much look forward to getting to know our ILS students and families in the next few weeks!

Six Questions: Meet Miss Kristin Malcolm, 5th grade teacher

Immanuel Lutheran School is excited to be adding several new wonderful teachers to our faculty this year. We will be allowing the teacher a chance to introduce themselves a bit here online in our Six Questions Series, and they are all excited to get the chance to meet our students and families in person in the coming weeks.

We are pleased to have Miss Kristin Malcolm join our faculty this year as our new 5th grade teacher. Many of our students and families will remember Miss Malcolm, a Hillsdale College graduate, who served as our teacher apprentice in 2015.  Miss Malcolm is delighted to return to the ILS community and join our Upper School faculty.
