Immanuel Lutheran School is a mission of Immanuel Evangelical-Lutheran Church. The School Board is comprised of seven members of Immanuel Lutheran Church who are elected by the congregation for rotating two-year terms. The chairman of the School Board is elected by the Voters Assembly and serves on the Church Council, which serves as the operating element of the Voters Assembly and is responsible for approving and executing plans and programs of the church and school; establishing project priorities; approving contracts; obligating funds consistent with Voters’ Assembly-approved budgets, and recommending borrowing to the Voters Assembly, when needed.
From the ILC Constitution:
"The Immanuel Lutheran School Board shall consist of seven members elected by the Voters Assembly. The Board shall work with the congregation's pastor(s) to foster a Christian ethos in the school. The Headmaster is responsible for the daily operations of the school; the Board is responsible for the oversight of these operations. In close collaboration with the Headmaster, the Board shall adopt policies, recommend the hiring of staff, approve significant curriculum changes, and manage the financial interests of the school. The Headmaster is accountable to the Board and shall regularly submit a status report as specified by the Board. The board shall regularly report to the Church Council and Voters Assembly."
