Immanuel Lutheran School is excited to announce a new partnership with the Trinity Forum. From their website: "The Trinity Forum convenes leading thinkers and thinking leaders to consider and discuss life’s great questions in the context of faith. Trinity Forum Society members interact with some of the most distinguished thinkers on the arts, sciences, business, cultural engagement, and more, and will have the opportunity to connect with like-minded leaders from around the world." In other words, they help provide a classical education for grown-ups!
In an effort to expand our efforts with strong community partners and establish additional opportunities for our parents and our faculty, we began conversations with the Forum late last fall. From our first conversation, it was clear that ILS and The Forum share many values - love of language and the Great Books, thinking about interesting questions, conversation, and relationships. Recognizing the natural over-lap and connection between the work we are doing here at ILS in terms of classical education and the work that the Forum is doing, ILS joined the Forum as an organizational member.
As a member, ILS receives 100 copies of each of the Forum's quarterly readings, a shortened reading of a classic text with corresponding discussion questions for book club conversations. Each quarter, ILS can share these readings with parents and teachers. This current reading is from The Golden Key, by George MacDonald.
ILS has plans to partner with our families to host at least one reading group discussion each quarter. These discussions will be a wonderful opportunity for us to engage current parents, prospective school families, and others in our community in conversations about great books and classical education more broadly. We hope that you will join us for conversations and events as you are able!
Aaron and Elizabeth Lewis (Catherine, K, Caroline, 2, and Charlotte, 4) have graciously agreed to host our initial event for parents in February. Watch for more details via email and flyers sent home. If you would like to receive a copy of the reading or are interested in hosting your own event, please contact Whitney Work.
Additionally, we will continue to keep you informed of other events hosted by The Trinity Forum in our area. The Forum regularly hosts wonderful speakers and host great programs, which we hope will be of interest to members of the Immanuel community.
Thank you for your support as we embark on this partnership. If you have any questions, or would like additional information, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
