Class of 2021 Meet Us Monday: Brady

We are counting down to the end of the 2020-2021 school year, and it is a particularly bittersweet time for our 8th grade students as they prepare to graduate. To help celebrate and recognize our ILS Class of 2021, we have again launched our “Meet Us Monday” blog series to introduce you to the members of this year’s graduating class.

Each week, we will be sharing interviews that we have done with each of our 8th grade students, in which they share more about their favorite ILS memories and traditions, words of wisdom they’ve received over the years, and other reflections from their years here with us at ILS. We hope that you will enjoy these reflections, and join with us in congratulating and celebrating these students!

Meet Us Monday: Brady, ILS Class of 2021

1. How long have you attended ILS?

Since Jr. Kindergarten! It’s been pretty fun.

2. To what house do you belong, and how have you developed as a person by being involved in it?

I’m in Athanasius. I’ve learned how to strategize and be more of a team player. You really have to work as a team in your house.

3. What was your favorite House competition?

I really like Capture the Flag in past years. It’s really fun to play against such a large group of people competitively. We used the whole campus one year to play, across the blacktop and the playground. Athanasius won one year.

4. What is your favorite ILS memory? (Or, which ILS tradition will you remember the most?)

In Jr. Kindergarten, I remember trying to open a packet of fruit snacks that exploded. It’s still funny to this day. Mrs. Honig wasn’t upset – we just had to clean it up. I think my favorite tradition is our house system – it’s unique to this school.

5. What subject have you studied that has most inspired you, and how? What subject have you studied that most challenged you to grow or change?

Probably math or science has most inspired me. I’ve always been interested in those subjects and I like solving problems so they’re enjoyable for me. We’re always working on solving problems in class with Miss Davis – whatever the subject is.

Latin is probably my most challenging class. Latin is literally learning a new language after all. This year, we’ve been reading a book that’s entirely in Latin.

6.  Where have you applied to High School?

I got accepted into Thomas Edison’s STEM program. I’m not really sure yet what sort of things I’ll get involved in.

 7. What will you miss the most about ILS?

Probably my friends. I’ve made a lot of great memories with my friends since I’ve been here so long. Trevor and Alexander – my main people!

8. How has a teacher impacted your life personally in a way you will never forget?

Both Miss Davis the First and Second. They help me to not get stressed about my grades and are really nice people.
