Meet Us Monday: Mr. Shawn Barnett, Upper School Teacher

In preparation for the 2020-2021 school year, we’re re-launching our Meet Us Monday Blog series to introduce you to our outstanding ILS teachers and staff. Check in each week to meet or better get to know one of our new or returning faculty members.

Today, we invite you go get to know ILS Upper School Teacher, Mr. Shawn Barnett, with his recent “Meet Us Monday” interview.

Mr. Barnett is beginning his 4th year at ILS as our Upper School Latin, History and Theology teacher. Mr. Barnett serves as Homeroom teacher for 6th grade, and is the faculty sponsor for House Ambrose.

  1. What is your favorite thing about ILS?

    I love teaching 5th grade Latin.  5th graders have an unmatched zeal for learning.

  2. What book are you currently reading?

    Martin Luther: Sein Weg zur Reformation by Martin Brecht

  3. What was your favorite thing you did this summer?

    Going on bike rides with my wife and son.

  4. What is one place you would like to visit but have not yet been?

    I would like to visit Greece.

  5. What was your favorite subject/class when you were in school?

    Mathematics

  6. What was your favorite book as a child?

    Hatchet by Gary Paulsen

  7. What is your favorite scripture verse?
