Meet Us Monday: Mrs. Rachel McChesney, 3rd Grade Teacher

As we count down to the 2021-2022 school year, we are bringing back our Meet Us Monday Blog series to introduce you to the outstanding new teachers joining our ILS faculty this year. Check in each week to meet or better get to know one of the new members of our team.

Today, we are introducing you to our new 3rd Grade Teacher, Mrs. Rachel McChesney.

An experienced teacher, Mrs. McChesney is excited to begin her first year of teaching at ILS. The McChesneys have three children at ILS this year.

  1. What are you most looking forward to about working at ILS?

    I am most looking forward to shepherding children in their faith and becoming even more a part of the ILS community.

  2. What book are you currently reading?

    I'm currently reading Firefly Lane and The Seven Laws of Teaching.

  3. What was your favorite thing you did this summer?

    We very much enjoyed doing local favorites with visiting family here in the DC area. We also enjoyed weekend trips to Deep Creek Lake and Chincoteague.

  4. What is one place you would like to visit but have not yet been?

    I would love to visit Italy for its history, beauty, and food.

  5. What was your favorite subject/class when you were in school? 

    My favorite subject in school was Reading. I've always loved reading and discussing good literature.

  6. What was your favorite book as a child?

    My favorite book as a child was The Giver by Lois Lowry.

  7. What is your favorite scripture verse? 

    Lamentations 3:22-23
