Class of 2022 Meet Us Monday: Henry

It’s our final count down to the end of the 2021-2022 school year! It is a particularly bittersweet time for our 8th grade students as they prepare to graduate. To help celebrate and recognize our ILS Class of 2022, we have again launched our “Meet Us Monday” blog series to introduce you to the members of this year’s graduating class.

Each week, we are sharing interviews that we have done with each of our 8th grade students, in which they share more about their favorite ILS memories and traditions, words of wisdom they’ve received over the years, and other reflections from their years here with us at ILS. We hope that you will enjoy these reflections, and join with us in congratulating and celebrating these students!

Meet Us Monday: Henry, ILS Class of 2022

1. How long have you attended ILS?

Just this year. I came in 8th grade.

2. To what house do you belong, and how have you developed as a person by being involved in it?

I’m part of Ambrose. I like our House because we have a lot of both athletic and smart people. I think this year we might win! I like how our House is really well-rounded. We have both athleticism and smarts!

3. What was your favorite House competition?

Definitely the ultimate frisbee. We did really well - we won! I just liked the competition – everyone was very intense, but I thought it was really fun.

4. What is your favorite ILS memory? (Or, which ILS tradition will you remember the most?)

Definitely playing football during recess. I like sports - the competition is fun.

5. What subject have you studied that has most inspired you, and how? What subject have you studied that most challenged you to grow or change?

I really like Logic. I had never studied logic before at my old school, so this was the first time I had learned it. It is something new, and I like identifying things and understanding logical arguments.

6.  Where will you attend High School?

I’ll be attending Bishop Ireton. I have a lot of friends going – both friends from ILS and from other schools. I’m excited to play sports - especially baseball, maybe basketball, but definitely baseball.

 7. What will you miss the most about ILS?

I will miss the community and the supportive teachers and staff.

8. How has a teacher impacted your life personally in a way you will never forget?

Mr. Hageman taught all of the 8th grade guys how to tie ties and the art of negotiation, so I’ll really remember that. It was actually really helpful.
