Meet Us Monday: Mrs. Jenny Schmick, Jr. Kindergarten Assistant Teacher

In preparation for the 2020-2021 school year, we’re re-launching our Meet Us Monday Blog series to introduce you to our outstanding ILS teachers and staff. Check in each week to meet or better get to know one of our new or returning faculty members.

Today, we invite you go get to know ILS Jr. Kindergarten Assistant Teacher, Mrs. Jenny Schmick, with her recent “Meet Us Monday” interview.

Mrs. Schmick is beginning her eighth year at ILS. She served as an extended care assistant for two years before becoming the Jr. Kindergarten Assistant with Mrs. Honig.

  1. What is your favorite thing about ILS?

    I love the excitement of the new school year when I get to meet and learn about each of our young scholars in the JrK class.

  2. What book are you currently reading?

    I am currently reading Blanket of Stars by C. W. Lockhart. It is an account of her journey along the Camino Santiago.

  3. What was your favorite thing you did this summer?

    My favorite thing I did this summer was meet my first granddaughter, Penny!

  4. What is one place you would like to visit but have not yet been?

    I would love to visit and explore the world's largest known cave, Hang Son Doong, in Vietnam.  It looks amazing!

  5. What was your favorite subject/class when you were in school? 

    Art was my favorite subject in high school and college.

  6. What was your favorite book as a child? What is your favorite book to teach?

    My favorite book as a child was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. My favorite books to use during JrK Theology are Concordia's Arch books.

  7. What is your favorite scripture verse?
