Meet Us Monday: Mrs. Whitney Work, Director of Advancement

We are continuing our Meet Us Monday Blog series to introduce you to our outstanding ILS teachers and staff. Check in each week to meet or better get to know one of our new or returning faculty members.

Today, we invite you go get to know another member of our ILS Administrative Team, Mrs. Whitney Work, with her recent “Meet Us Monday” interview.

Mrs. Work has been a part of the Immanuel community for 11 years as a parent to a 2020 ILS graduate, and she is now in her 6th year serving as our Director of Advancement.

Mrs. Work

  1. What is your favorite thing about ILS?

Our wonderful community- parents, students, teachers, staff! And visiting our Jr. Kindergarten students - they always bring a smile to my face.

  2. What book are you currently reading?

Arithmetic by Paul Lockhart (at the recommendation of Miss D. Davis!) as well as re-reading the entire A Wrinkle in Time series by Madeline L’Engle.

  3. What was your favorite thing you did this summer?

We were able to spend some time with my parents, brother & sister-in-law and my niece, which was wonderful. And we went camping for the first time in years, which was a lot of fun!

  4. What is one place you would like to visit but have not yet been?

Scotland is probably top of the list.

  5. What was your favorite subject/class when you were in school?

Through high school, math and science were definitely my favorites. In college, I loved my government and politics class - especially Virginia Government and Politics and Campaigns & Elections.

  6. What is your favorite book as a child?

Oh, it is hard to pick just one. I loved the Little House on the Prairie series, the Chronicles of Narnia, A Wrinkle in Time, Anne of Green Gables

  7. What is your favorite scripture verse?

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” (1 Peter 1:3)
