As we count down to the 2021-2022 school year, we are bringing back our Meet Us Monday Blog series to introduce you to the outstanding new teachers joining our ILS faculty this year. Check in each week to meet or better get to know one of the new members of our team.

Today, we are introducing you to Miss Lindsay Smith. Miss Smith will be teaching music to all students in Jr. Kindergarten through 8th grades.

  1. What are you most looking forward to about working at ILS?

I am most excited to instruct students in singing the rich Lutheran Hymnody and instilling an appreciation for Western Music history through listening activities in the music classroom.

  2. What book are you currently reading?

The Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly

  3. What was your favorite thing you did this summer?

I vacationed with my family in Isle of Palms, SC. We love sitting on the beach and eating lots of seafood. I also loved swimming in my pool and playing with our puppy, Daisy.

  4. What is one place you would like to visit but have not yet been?

I would like to travel to England one day to visit London and see Highclere Castle, where Downton Abbey was filmed.

  5. What was your favorite subject/class when you were in school?

Besides music class, of course, I always thoroughly enjoyed English class. One of the most memorable books I read was Frankenstein, in AP English.

  6. What was your favorite book as a child?

I loved reading the Percy Jackson series, the Narnia Series, and The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.

  7. What is your favorite scripture verse?

    Psalm 95:1-2

Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
